Monocle’s long-running partnership with Yoshida’s Porter brand has produced plenty of well-considered bags, but the Travel Bag 23 stands out. At 23 litres it slots into most cabin overhead bins without negotiation, and the ballistic nylon holds up to genuine use without looking battered. The interior layout is thought through: a laptop sleeve, a flat-zip front compartment for documents, and a main cavity with enough room for three days packed efficiently. Carry handles are reinforced with stitched tape. The shoulder strap is padded but not so thick it becomes its own problem. Available in black and olive.
