The brand formerly known as Haeckels - Margate’s seaweed-harvested skincare label - spent 2024 operating without a name after publicly acknowledging that its Victorian namesake held racist ideologies incompatible with the company’s values. It returned in 2025 as Dulcie, named by founder Dom Bridges after his daughter.

The formulation is unchanged: a 30ml hyaluronic acid serum with Bladderwrack extract (Fucus vesiculosus) harvested from the Margate shoreline and Vitamin B3 for barrier support. What has changed is the packaging. As of September 2025, the bottle and pipette are made entirely from Vivomer - a bio-based, home-compostable material developed by Shellworks - making it one of the few skincare products where the container genuinely disappears. The “pay what you feel” pricing structure, three tiers for an identical product, is an unusual and principled position for a premium grooming brand. The rebrand is principled. The serum earns its place regardless.
